🇬🇧 MBP is a four-piece progressive modern metal band, located in Bucharest, Romania, gaining rapid traction on the local stages.
🇷🇴 MBP este o trupă de metal modern progresiv formată din patru membri, din București, România, într-o rapidă ascensiune în scenele locale.
Band History
🇷🇴 Inițial sub titulatura de Mihai Barbu Project, trupa MBP s-a născut in anul 2017 și a beneficiat de o ascensiune și creștere în popularitate rapide, in 2018 având reușite precum câștigarea unui concurs organizat de trupa The Rock si Dave Evans (primul vocalist AC/DC), care a rezultat intr-un concert in aer liber in fața a peste 200 de pasionați și membri ai grupurilor moto autohtone. De asemenea, un moment notabil este reprezentat de lansarea albumului de debut A LIFETIME CONSEQUENCE, la începutul anului 2019, un material muzical concept, divers, de peste 80 de minute, produs independent și care a dovedit potențialul trupei.
Timp de doi ani, începând cu a doua jumătate a anului 2019, trupa a colaborat cu una dintre cele mai vechi agenții de booking și management din zona metal românească, Axa Valaha Productions, a susținut show-uri și festivale în orașe mari din toată țara, alături de mai multe trupe notabile, precum Moonspell, Shokran, Riverside, Bucovina, Cargo, Iris.
În luna mai a anului 2020, trupa a lansat single-ul SILENCE, care a devenit rapid cea mai cunoscută și apreciată piesă a grupului, atât de critici cât și de fani. Cei patru muzicieni, rebranduiți sub titulatura MBP, au înregistrat EP-ul conținând single-ul mai sus menționat la începutul anului 2020, în Studio 148, alături de unul dintre cei mai cunoscuți și apreciați producători din aria rock / metal autohtonă, Marius Costache, și de producătorul executiv Mihai 'Coro’ Caravețeanu (Axa Valaha Productions).
În 2022, piesa SKIN a trupei a fost prezentată pe o compilație de muzică heavy, MUSINK FOR HUMANITY, realizata de Next Level Tattoo si Rock FM, alături de cele mai mari nume din industria românească, precum Cargo, Altar, Anton, Antract, White Walls.
Caracterizați că fiind una dintre cele mai promițătoare trupe românești din zona metalului modern și comparați frecvent cu nume precum Devin Townsend Project, Breaking Benjamin, Periphery, Leprous, Katatonia sau Pain of Salvation, cu un sound nou, riff-uri catchy, o secție ritmică ireproșabilă și beneficiind din plin de capacitățile unuia dintre cei mai talentați vocaliști și compozitori ai scenei underground românești din acest moment, MBP continuă să surprindă cu partituri agresive, dar pline de melodie, însoțite de refrene ușor de reținut, inovând în stilul ales.
În prezent, trupa lucrează intens pentru pregătirea unui nou LP, ale cărui detalii vor fi dezvăluite în 2023, propunându-și cel mai ambițios și competitiv release de metal modern din România.

🇬🇧 Initially under the name Mihai Barbu Project, MBP was born in 2017 and gained rapid traction and great increase in popularity, marking successful highlights such as winning a contest organized by The Rock and Dave Evans (the 1st AC/DC frontman), resulting in an open-air concert in front of over 200 rock fans and local motorcycle clubs members, in 2018. In addition, early 2019’s highlight was the release of the band’s debut album A LIFETIME CONSEQUENCE, an 80 min. musical journey, self-produced, which showed the band’s true upcoming potential.
For 2 years, starting with fall 2019, the band started a collaboration with one of the oldest booking and management agencies in the Romanian metal scene, Axa Valaha Productions, performed shows and festivals in big cities all over Romania, with big names such as Moonspell, Shokran, Riverside, Bucovina, Cargo, Iris.
In May 2020, the band released the SILENCE single, which quickly became the most known and appreciated song of the group, by critics and fans alike. The four musicians, now rebranded as MBP, recorded and released their self-titled 2020 EP, which contains the aforementioned single, in Studio 148, produced by one of the best and most well known rock/metal producers in Romania, Marius Costache, and with the help and guidance of executive producer Mihai “Coro” Caravețeanu (Axa Valaha Productions).
In 2022, the band’s single SKIN was featured on a heavy music compilation, MUSINK FOR HUMANITY, created by Next Level Tattoo and Rock FM, alongside the biggest bands in the local industry, such as Cargo, Altar, Anton, Antract, White Walls.
Described as one of the most promising bands in the metal and rock local scenes, and often compared with names like Devin Townsend Project, Breaking Benjamin, Periphery, Leprous, Katatonia or Pain of Salvation, with a fresh sound, catchy riffs, with a flawless rhythmic section and aided by the full capabilities of one of the most talented vocalists and songwriters in the local underground scene, MBP continues to surprise with aggresive but melodic songs, with catchy and easy to recognize choruses, innovating their chosen style.
Currently, the band is hard at work on recording and preparing their next LP, with more details to be announced in 2023, aiming for the most ambitious and competitive modern metal release in Romania.
